1. Apt (adjective) = appropriate or suitable in the circumstances;
suitable or right for a particular situation.

2. Apt ( =likely) = to be likely to do something or to often do something.
Examples:
1. The kitchen roof is apt to ( =likely to) leak when it rains.
2. She is in her eighties now and apt to be a little forgetful.

3. Apt (= able)(Formal) = having a natural ability or skill.
e.g. We have some particularly apt students in the class this year.

Phrase 2: Call Off

If you call off an event that has been planned, you cancel it.
e.g. John and Tina were going to get married today, but the wedding was called off.

Phrase 1: Pull Off
